Chungbuk expects to boost social participation and rehabilitation for people with disabilities -

On the 5th, Chungbuk announced the launch of an additional “Working Tteokguk” center at the Chungbuk Sports Center, where around 40 people with disabilities participated in the opening event.

The disability-friendly workplace project began on January 13 at the Chungbuk Disabled Persons Center, with around 50 people with disabilities taking part, led by the Chungbuk Disabled Culture Exchange Association (President Lee Sun-ju). In response to the growing demand, the new center was inaugurated today.

“Working Tteokguk” is a productive volunteer activity program that provides economic and social opportunities for vulnerable groups, including elderly residents and people with disabilities in the province, by offering work such as agricultural product processing and product assembly, while providing them with practical financial support.

The newly established workplace provides ample space for over 100 people with disabilities to work together, and is equipped with accessible facilities. The center will operate every day, excluding Saturdays and public holidays, offering simple tasks at scheduled times.

Governor Kim Young-hwan visited the new center to encourage the participants, stating, “People with disabilities have traditionally been in a position to receive assistance in economic, health, and social participation aspects. However, through the ‘Working Tteokguk’ program, people with disabilities will actively engage in volunteer activities in the community, and I expect it to offer opportunities to foster a stronger desire for rehabilitation.”
